The C3AI platform is showcased as a tool to expedite storm surge modeling for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. By integrating six disparate types of data from the Corps’ Coastal storm modeling system, the platform allows users to swiftly assess simulation data for specific storm profiles, predicting storm surge intensities and timelines for areas of interest. It incorporates AI and machine learning capabilities to approximate results of physics models that run on supercomputers, significantly accelerating storm surge analysis times. With it, a new AI and ML model can run in 2-3 hours, supplementing supercomputer capabilities under certain scenarios. Users can analyze billions of data points from thousands of real and simulated storms almost instantly, for better disaster planning, infrastructure requirement identification, and disaster response efforts. The application has demonstrated its efficiency in identifying risks and enabling life-saving actions during storm surges.
